Letter to a Young Mediator

Letter to a Young Mediator
“Make an authentic service of others and the restoration of their humanity your goal, and humility will become a daily practice and courage a constant expression of character and integrity.”

Dear Young Mediator,

Let me start with a word of appreciation. Thank you for offering a significant part of your life in service to our human family.

We live in a world of such richness and enormous challenges. Our greatest tests, the ones that every generation must face, rarely defy us because we lack knowledge, technical capacity, or abundant resources. Our most significant global challenges pose the fundamental question of how we will mobilize the compassion and courage to transform our conflicts away from the pull of violence and toward the genius of dialogue and dignity.
